If you've just bought your first chickens, or maybe thinking about having some, then why not increase your knowledge and confidence at our Chicken Keeping course for beginners. At this free, friendly and informal course, you'll learn all the chicken keeping basics, from housing, bedding and feed choices, to spotting signs of ill health and treating minor ailments. There is 'hands on' chicken handling experience, with demonstrations of wing clipping and how to apply mite powder. By looking at different types of hens and bantams it may also help you decide the type or breed which is best suited to your circumstances.
Courses are held on Saturdays, usually two per month from Spring to Autumn, starting 10am - 11.30 ish at the Ravenshead Plant Centre. Details will be published on this page and also our Home Page - on the Notice Board.
The courses are held inside the shop, and we suggest you don't wear your best jeans - the chicken's digestive system can be unpredictable sometimes when being handled :-))
