Easily recognised birds, the popular Buff Orpington is named after the town of Orpington in Kent. An attractive large breed with soft full feathering and reasonable layers of around 175 light brown eggs. Orpingtons have a docile temperament, endearing steady birds which are unlikely to fly. Their size and lack of agility needs to be taken into account when sourcing housing, so ladders not too steep, perches not too high and pop holes of sufficient size for comfortable access. We find Orpingtons have minimal impact on the lawn, despite their size they do much less digging than the Hybrids !
In our Opinion.. attractive, friendly steady characters, ideal for the garden
Hatching eggs available in the Spring at £2 ea Pullets available from Summer 2019.
